Micro-ban is what you need in a pump sprayer wet everything down thoughly with it, then dehumidify the bldg.

When I am going to be away for any length of time I turn the water and hot water heater off. Nothing like being gone for a week or two and when you drive in the garage see water running across the floor. Gets ones attention fast.
Good practice.
In 2014 I had a plastic 1/2" pipe outside my 40x60 workshop freeze and blow the end cap off, resulting in an outside fountain. Luckily I spotted it within a few hours.

Yeah I will turn it off from now on. Live and learn I guess.

You should really post pictures of the barn. It was a super nice build and construction. I remember you posting when water was installed. I know at the time you were not thinking the water topic would be revisited. Glad it is working out.

Wednesday I purchased a 70 pint dehumidifyer and it's working great.

I didn't realize everything was still wet. You need to get fans in there. The wind will get into all the little spots where water might be and dries everything out. You can rent specialty fans for this, or just buy a couple of cheap box fans and put them where you get the best results. The dehumidifier is only going to remove moisture in the air, and if the barn is not sealed up, you are really just wasting your time.

I live 1200 feet from my meter and whenever I leave for a weekend or longer I shut the valve of next to the house. That won't help if there is an underground leak from the road so tomorrow I am gong to get a valve wrench to shut the water off at the meter. Very sorry for your mishap but maybe others can get a lesson from that.

Wednesday I purchased a 70 pint dehumidifyer and it's working great. Due to poured wall foundation there is very little damage. Water bill is $2800 though which really pisses me off being that it's not my fault and insurance won't cover it. Seems like the guy with least money always foots the bill while the big company always walks away free and clear. How is that? Lol

If you are on municipal water, they will cut that bill down if you can prove the water didn't go down the drain. It costs more to treat the sewage than deliver the water, so instances like yours the utility should be willing to work with you.

I would contact the utility company and ask about some kind of adjustment after explaining your situation.
Depending on your location (NOT LISTED!) they might have a heart and be willing to help you.

Also, ask if they will let you pay it off for a certain amount over a period of time like a year. Spread it out a little, if you can. Sorry this happened to you.
