I bought a set of Nikon 7x50s years ago for about $100-200. The other big name, meaning big money, binoculars where at least three times as much. I have been using Nikon lenses for decades and I think they make really good optics. I will be danged if I can believe that a $1,000 binoc is that much better than Nikon. If those expensive European brands are better than Nikon, I doubt I could see the difference and that the difference would be minimal, if I could see it.

You guys must shop in a different aisle then I do. You can find a lot of decent to very nice binoculars for under $200 if you shop around.

I agree, I have a nice set of Nikon 10x50 that I think I paid $100. They work fine for me.
