Hurricane Irma

It's only been one week since Hurricane Harvey struck and now, just when we thought it was safe to go back into the water, another Hurricane called Irma is brewing in the Atlantic. It's still too far from the USA to predict where, when or if it will make landfall but it is already a Category 3 with the potential to become a Category 5! The National Hurricane Center describes Irma as an "extremely dangerous" storm.

Best outcome for Irma is a fish storm if I was wishcasting. One track has it making a bead for me, but it ain't about to weaken.

The U.S. hurricane center said Irma had maximum sustained winds of 120 mph Monday morning and some strengthening was expected through Tuesday night. The storm was centered about 610 miles east of the Leeward Islands and moving west-southwest at 14 mph.

Long-range forecasts indicated Irma likely would curve to the northwest beginning late Monday and skirt to the north of the islands in the eastern Caribbean on a path that could potentially take it to the U.S. East Coast, but it was too early to make a definitive prediction.
