Why did you decide to stay?

I don't blame you, but so many seem to think that those in NO should have been wiser and left. I agree that the school busses should have been driven away with loads of people on them going 'somewhere' (not sure where but the authorities always say to go to a safe place -right!!).

So, not to be judgemental, but why did you stay? (glad you are safe and in reasonably good shape with a lot of work)

He stayed because he's in Mobile and the storm obviously was going in near New Orleans. That's a state away! 99% of the time there would have been minimal damage to the Mobile area, but this was a very large storm.

As Glenn said It was goinng to make land fall a state away. We are about 115 miles away from where it was going to make landfall. Believe me any closer and it would of been a no brainer we would of left. Also we are well inland. We left for Ivan because land fall was so close to us. It took us 6 hours to drive back home which normally takes 2 hours. We have plenty of options of places to go so we really thought hard about leaving.

I thought I had heard that New Orleans told residents that they would make ways for them to leave. I do not see how but I think more people that stayed had ways to leave.
