Hurricane Wilma - On a serious note

My dad called to say that the only thing that could compare to the sight he saw when he opened his front door to the street yesterday was back during WWII when the landing craft front door opened and he stepped onto the beach at Guadalcanal........ /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Thanks for the support and thoughts guys.

Had lotsa rain here. At one point water was 3" from my front door threshold. Had sandbags ready.. but didn't need them... rain passed an a couple days.. A few trees down, limbs too.. mostly nuisance stuff... rolling power outtages and phone trouble that lasted only hours..

No one that I know had damage.

thanks again.

Best support group I could ask for.

Sat thru the whole first half out here in Palm City Farms and thought we were thru the worst. Lost power at 11 am, good thing we got a generator this year. I was wrong the second half tore the isle off the pole barn luckily if broke free and the horses were safe in the barn. The first post to pull out broke a 6 X 6 in half not splinter but across the post. The house made it fine. The poles were sucked out of the ground with the roof attached. That was scary to see go. Had a five acre lake that was with in 10 feet of the barn still ways away from the house is now back to almost normal. Tons of braches to pick up and take out. Start to rebuild the barn isle just need to get now 2 X 4s, 2 X 6 and 3 more 6 X 6 to beef it up some and then get some new metal. I will post some pics when I get them resized.

Yikes.. hate to loose pieces o fthe barn. last year i lost a 10x10 section of barn roof.. wood and metal came up in a panel and flew off. Another section caved in a bit and fell on my 8n taking the paint off in a 2"x3" area....

BradK,

My parents are in Palm City. I had talked with them when the eye was over them and everything was ok. The back end of the storm look small compared to the front edge. And as fast as the storm was moving it seemed like the end of the storm would be a non issue.

Wrong. They said the back end of the storm was the worse. They had water blown into the house from the gable vent on the west side of the house. The west side is also the side of the house with the garage door. Even with two cars on the OUTSIDE of the door to block the wind they where afraid the door was going to go. They had no damage execpt to landscaping and downed limbs.

Power was back the night before last so they are very fortunate.

Later,
Dan

Soundguy I wish the tin was that small we lost a 12 X 50 section of tin wood and poles, and have to take down the last 12 X 12 section to replace the broken wood and braces. We just completed the barn 10 months ago is the annoying part. But the recovery has started we have all the good posts back in the ground and are woking towards gettin the wood and tin to have it fixed in a few weeks. We built it once we can redo it again. Still trying to resize the pics. Hopefully we will have power soon there are lines down on our street and two large leaning trees at our fence and neighbors power lines that are not safe for me to attempt to cut or I would so there is less chance of it taking out more power lines and the fence. Looks like a toranado come through and hit a few areas but largely left the immediate area undamaged.
