Seeders hurry primary seeder ?

attention landscapers.......or anyone else......I have over one acre to seed for a lawn. If i rent a primary seeder made by landpride do you have to still use straw or is it just as good to just use a spreader and throw the seed out on the ground and cover it with straw? also can you use an overseeder for a new lawn? also what is the best way to remove all the weeds and grass? the house is in the middle of a corn field and we are talking industrial size weeds. will a box scaper handle it and what about removing thick established grass.....a box scaper??? thanks

U need to KILL all the weeds first.
2,4D will kill broad leaves
Round up (takes about 3 weeks to work) or some other burn down herbicide
to kill everything.
Use ripper teeth on box blade or disk to loosen soil.
I would use tiller to chop it all up (rock hound or preparator on skid steer).
Then rake to get rocks or drag to level.
w/ fall coming u can seed then straw and water water water water.
I just put in 3 acre yard had to haul 500 ton fill dirt and 200 ton topsoil to get the owners happy.
600# seed
1000# starter fertilizer
200 bale straw

Another idea, make friends w/ local farmer and see if can spray your
X corn field then take large disk (our 24' IH works good for this but 35D won't pull it)
and do the heavy work for u.
He could even drill the seed for u.
Then u can do the leveling and seeding.
