On this jet in the pic, I can only rotate 3/4 because the plastic around the base won't rotate past the metal - I'm hesitant to pry it up because I'm afraid I'll break the plastic. Yes, the bowl is filling but it doesn't get up from there (It'll run with starting fluid so plugs are working, right?) Thank you so much!

And the links are on correct so that the throttle is wide open? So the plastic tab that prevents the screw from turning has the sole purpose of keeping the carb in emission perameters.

Well, after reading your post, I checked the links and compared to the pics I took before disassembling the original. Looked fine. But then I tried dropping the plate down just to maybe get different action from the throttle cable and BANG, started right up. Then slowly started surging again, then quit. Let it sit 5 minutes, same thing. I don't know if this means anything, but I did notice that while running the meter was jumping around a bit - normally it's around -5 amp when cranking then +5 for a few minutes. It was well over +10.

So when this isn't running, the governor will pull the throttle plat wide open if the shaft / linkage is correct. Did you perchance remove the throttle shaft when cleaning and it got put in so it is working in reverse? Or remove the governor arm perchance? Your charging system is undoubtedly working harder from all the cranking drawing the battery down..

I don’t think I removed those but it’s certainly worth a look. I’m thinking now that maybe it’s something other than gas/carb since it’s acting like it first did and since it runs a few mins, stalls out but then fires back up after sitting. Does that make sense?

It would seem from your description that the bowl is filling, but not staying full. This can be from an obstructed carb bowl vent, tank vent, obstructed supply lines, float valve etc. What I do if I'm in doubt about the lines is run a length of fuel line to a supply can and use a clear filter so I can observe the flow. The pulse pumps on these are adequate , but not overly strong. My favorite was fir tree needles packing in the line.

This is no doubt NOT one of the dumb things smart people do...

But recently I had a problem with my mower shutting down after about every 10 minutes of running, stop for a while, repeat. Since I had just done my Summer maintenance, I rechecked those things that I replaced, and noticed - I had mounted my new gas filter in backwards! Turned it around, and all is good.

Just for good measure though, glancing at your filter direction would be prudent.

That sounds like the next place to look --once I figure out where vents are :) Away for the holiday but home for the weekend so I can get back to it (rested and ready) Thanks
