Husqvarna LGT 24K54 - seat change, wont run when I disengage brake

I bought a nicer, taller seat with armrests for my Husqvarna riding mower. When I sit down, starts right up, but, as soon as I release the brake, it turns off. I assume the mower doesn't realize I'm sitting on it, so it cuts off.

It's a 4 wire connection, both from my old seat and on the new one. Not sure what to check - hoping someone knows what I'm missing.

It's possible if you got a new switch with the new seat it is defective. Will the old one work in the new seat? There are four wires because the seat switch is actually two switches. When you sit in the seat you are closing one switch and opening another. When you get up you are opening the first switch and closing the second. I'm not sure exactly how it's wired but it seems like one set of contacts allows power to the starter, ignition, etc. I suspect the other set shorts the ignition to ground to prevent the engine from running. I could be wrong but that's the way it seems to me.

That all sounds Spot On to me. I was honestly trying to figure: How does the seat know when I (or something more than …50lbs) am sitting on the seat.

I wonder if it doesn’t press down on the little plunger to activate the sensor.

The new switch could be wired any number of ways. Two switches could be normally open or normally closed or one normally open and one normally closed.

I found a video of a "cheat", to stuff 4 toothpicks into the wiring harness below the seat. It works, but, ...frustrating that I couldn't figure out the proper resolution. I can't take the old switch out of the old sit - it physically won't fit. I bought a "high end", Husqvarna seat - one that I saw on a TS 348D - that is MUCH taller, more solid, has armrests... But somehow, in buying the seat and it's mounting hardware, the switch is not getting depressed by the seat bottom. However, even during a test, I taped the seat "button" down, to simulate the seat depressing the button, and it still wouldn't work correctly; (machine starts with brake depressed, but, when brake is released, machine quits).

Most mowers excluding Kubota and Scag don't require you to depress the seat switch for starting, only when the deck is engaged or the parking brake is released.

Yep you need to disable that switch.

The newer Kioti's do now as well. Butt in seat, neutral, and brake pressed.
