Husqvarna LOGTH2448T Riding Mower

Come on, mowing near a cliff? Now I know your just trolling. "Not being able to back up is 10x more dangerous than being able to" This is not a commercial grade mower number one, number two-do you think this is an ATV? Why don't you just by a tow behind mower and use your Polaris seeing as how you mow near a cliff and need to backup in such a hurry.

Scratching my head on these complaints-I don't understand how such catastrophic failures happen if they are being used for what they are intended for. I have one that mows 1.5 acres of rough terrain with a slope and my neighbor has one with the Kawasaki engine and he mows 2 acres of 2.1 slope. No broken frames, blown engines, cracked frames, front axle issues or mower deck issues. I do understand that the black colored deck is a little thinner and spot welded so I understand problems with those. The grey is better and the orange colored decks are the best.

I just cant understand how these frames break like that? I have a 2005-8 cutting seasons, 300 hours and I weigh 240 pounds. Also have a 3 bin bagger that can weight 90 lbs when full. Everything's original nut need to replace the blades next year.

I have a Husqvarna YTH23V42LS and will have owned it for 5 years in March. I have never had a problem with the tractor until two days ago.

I use my tractor for your typical homeowner uses for a lawn, cutting grass and sweeping leaves during the spring, summer and fall. During winter I attach either a Bercomac Northeaster Snow Thrower or a Becomac Snow Blade. While scraping the remnants of the snow not thrown by the snow thrower I came to a stop, pressed the reverse pedal and heard a small pop and the tractor would not move in either direction. I pushed it back into the garage and found the main drive belt off of the transmission. I could not see the cause of the belt jumping off of the pulley so I placed it back on the pulley and tested the tractor. It ran fine in forward, but would squeal like a belt was squealing when in reverse. I figured the original belt now almost 5 years old had stretched. I purchased a new OEM belt and installed it the following night. Ran fine in forward and squealed in reverse. I could not find anything wrong underneath so I called the dealer where I bought tractor and had him pick it up and take it to his shop. I stopped on the way home from work tonight and got the bad news. The frame was cracked at both rear wheels. I asked if it was fixable and he told me that there is a kit from Husqvarna designed to fix this very problem. He was surprised because he had seen this only once before on one of the Husqvarna garden series tractors. He said that with the repair kit the frame would be stronger than the original frame and that it bolted on and no welding was necessary. Bad news the labor will be a couple of hours. This tractor has never been abused and the dealer acknowledged that fact. I have performed the maintenance on this tractor religiously. The only mistakes I have made was leaving the ignition turned on to where the battery was dead and the hour meter skyrocket to indicate that the tractor was used 10 times more than it was actually used. Kit is ordered and he is hoping it will be in so I can get the tractor back early next week before we get hit with any big snow storms.

Sorry to hear that, maybe thats the key if htese are used in the winter. mine sits in the garage all winter. Maybe a snowblower adds to much tension to the factory axle brackets? Ih Husvarna has a kit out then to me that is acknowledging this issue. I know I said I couldnt understand it before but your post answered several of my questions. Thanks for the post and information, it was very helpfull unlike others here that just want to complain and bash. Hope you got it back befoe this big storm we got-I got 27 inches.

That sounds like a serious defect to me. I have a GTH26V52LS which is used in pretty much the same way. Now I'm concerned. If Husqvarna has a kit for just such a problem, it seems to me that they should have fixed it at no charge.

This sounds like the old Honda Goldwing problem where the frames were breaking in half. They denied that it was a common problem until a few people actually died in wrecks caused by it.

I truly hope that yours is an isolated incidence.

Yeah I dont understand this myself as I am 200 punds plus, use a 3 bin bagger and my property is rough, very rough. I have 330 hours on my tractor and never had any problems like this. Im still using the origional belts. I bought my tractor in Feb 2006 and I use it on slopes. My neighbor has a similiar year but with Kawasaki motor, his land is all steep slope and he has never heard of this either. I guess we are just lucky. I am also still using the origional battery :)
