I have a 2006 Hustler Fastrak, 42" ZTR that throws and breaks belts. In the past 3 years I have replaced all of the deck pulleys. I still throw belts. Yesterday I replaced the deck belt 3 times without being able to cut any grass. As soon as I engage the deck, the belts comes off the pulleys.

Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

Thanks,

Don

I think it must be a pulley alignment problem but I have no idea what you would need to do to fix it. Look at the belt alignment from the mower engine to the deck and see how much slant it has between the engine and the first pulley, then look at all the spindles and idler pulleys to see how well they align. All the deck pulleys should be pretty much level all the way across. You may also have some missing belt guides (? Little brackets that fit up close to some pulleys to keep the belts on)

You're using proper drive belts, not automotive style v-belts.

Is the idler pulley tensioned correctly?
