I just got a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Like it so far. First car like this for me. I would consider buying one even if I was spending my own money. Wouldn't say that about many cars in that class. Hybrid takes a bit getting used to.

I still consider Hybrid a new technology so I wouldn't buy a used one.

To clarify the Escape ABS problem is tone ring cracking. The first one that cracked was fixed by the dealer and was obscenely expensive. The second I fixed myself - about $15 and a couple of hours of easy work. It has to be fixed because it generates a bad signal and can't be defeated.

Common problem in the rust belt we share. Ferrous hub rusts underneath a low-strength alloy tone ring, rust expands under the ring and cracks it.

I remember my friend putting a $1000+ half shaft into a Smart Car a number of years back - no tone rings were available at the time, and only Benz had the shafts. That story reminds me..... an ABS fault can be a real PITA - caused that "smart" car to constantly apply stability control - try driving anywhere like that and you better like the smell of toasting brake pads.....

We had a Prius for 120,000 miles. Only repairs were replacing the hood because of a deer, replacing the grill because of a rabbit and having 8 flats because of our gravel roads. Might get another one if we ever move out of the rural area.

I found the more plys the less millage so in the end the $ was all the same. So I settled for 46mpg instead of 54 and cut out half the flats.

I have 96,000 mile on my '14 Prius and had no problems so far and love it. My previous car was an Infinity G20. I liked it but had too many little problems with it. Those problems were generally made worse due to low production numbers it seemed to me. I had to fight past the stigma of considering a Prius at first but after actually researching them, I thought they might be a good choice for me. I plan on keeping it till it wont run anymore.
