It does look like a TSC cyl to me.
I would thread the rod into the yoke as far as i could.
I wouldn't hesitate to put those soft cast (cr@p) metal spacers on my hard metal rod.. the spacers are likely to wear before the threads do.
On my jd 1517 batwing, there is about 1/2" of threads after my yokes showing.. I set a spacer on em.. mower is a 98 and has seen heavy mowing in its lifetime.. threads look new.. spacers are wore out!
