Hyd Cylinders

I have a GC 2310 and the Hyd Cylinders on the front end loader
needs to be repacked.

I was quoted at $ 100.00 per Cylinder

I have now idea how to do this??

I could use a LOT of help on this??

Do you plan on trying to do it yourself? or are you just taking them off and having someone else rebuild them?

That's not a bad price- the seals will likely be $25-$40. Posting pics of it will show us what you are up against.

I was to take the Cyl off and take to the shop and pick back up after the repair was done to the cyl..

Could I do the re packing my shelf or are the spc. tools needed ???

Repacking a cylinder is pretty easy though I haven't done one in 40 years. The toughest part is generally get the gland off the cylinder. There might be a special gland wrench needed to get it off but they are not terribly expensives IIRC.
This is how you do it , in general. Your specific loader/tractor could require some other slightly different method.Take the load off the loader main frame ,disconnect the hoses an drain the fluid into a clean container. Remove the pin and drain more fluid into the container and then remove the second pin and take it off the tractor and drain the rest of the fluid out of the cylinder. Take the gland off and remove the rod and piston from the cylinder. replace the seals on the rod and the piston. (You will probably have to remove the piston to get the seals off the gland end if the pin fitting is welded on like they usully are.) There should be a flat on the rod that will allow you to hold it to remove the piston retainer nut. The thing you need to watch out for is to not scratch the rod's sealing surface or the internal cylinder bore. Wet the seals with the fluid. Put the new gland seal on and then the piston seals and bolt the piston back on. Repalce the rod in the culinder and tighten the gland reinstall the cylinder on the loader frame, attach the hoses and cycle the loader several times (CAREFULLY because one cylinder will have fluid in it and the rebuilt one is empty so you can cock the loader frame if you are not careful) to refill the cylinder. This is how I recall doing it 40 years ago.
