have a 4630 ford with 2 hyd units changing filters and noticed that eng unit had no hyd fluid in it was dry rear end oil level ok any body why this is
Tomatoman, welcome to TBN.
Likely probability to the cause of no oil in the engine pump is due to the inlet pipe, larger of the two, is not sealed/seated in the pump. This happens when the suction tube is jarred. The clamp under the fuel tank on the bell housing is supposed to keep it in position.
You can loosen the clamp, remove the pressure line from the pump and remove the pump. Inspect the suction pipe and the sealing oring for damage or signs of being out of position.
If all looks good, grease the oring, reassemble and try, BUT, if the pump has been running dry for any amount of time, it's probably worn out and needs to be replaced.
yes hyd working rear pump working just that eng mtd unit had no oil in filter when changed just dry no trace of oil in it,put new filter on ,ran engine and operated bucket then took off new filter still dry tractor has a loader 7209 with deluxe remotes
What happens when a two pump system has an inoperative engine driven pump is the hitch will work. The remotes will work at reduced flow. The hitch and remotes will not function simultaneously as they would if both pumps were working.
The rear pump provides flow to the hitch and the remotes only if there is no hitch demand. The engine driven auxiliary pump only provides flow to the remote valves.
