Firstly, Thanks for the replies; Much appreciated.

I should have mentioned that I just got my hands on a Prince regenerative Log splitting valve which will be controlling the splitting ram.

I agree that Gallons per minute are the limiting factor given that the tractor in question can only deliver around 9gpm. I've just been looking at how thirsty typical motors are.
As it stands I agree with AKKAMAAN and the idea of the low pressure switch on the log splitter extension hydraulic line to switch on the conveyor intermittently.
The conveyor is just an ideal at present. The rest of the saw and log splitter will be complete over christmas and I will look at the typical time cycles of the splitter ram to get a better idea of what to do.

Of course the correct way (money not being an object) to do its is to build in an onboard hydraulic system and put in a Priority valve in the circuit as J J replied.
