Are there copper washers on the oil filter screen fitting? If so, has anybody replaced them when servicing the hydraulic oil screen filter? Does the large bolt that holds the filter screen in place get replaced as well? I was looking at the style of fitting and it looks like a standard banjo fitting. Is there a perscribed torque for this bolt? There's so much paint on it I can't tell much about the fitting. To my knowledge, a banjo fitting nearly always gets a new bolt and squish washers.

Peter, the oil strainer and bolt are one piece, so you do not replace a bolt. And instead of copper washers, there are two rubber O-rings. I could give you the part numbers for a B2710, but don't know whether they are the same or not for the B2410. When I cleaned mine, I didn't damage the O-rings, so I didn't replace them. And I haven't found a prescribed torque for them (but bet there is one). I just tightened them "snug" and no leaks.

Thanks Bird. I really wasn't sure. I had read about a number of people going through the strainer cleaning and staiting it was simple, so I hoped it was not a typical banjo fitting. The last banjo fitting I worked with, the rear hyd. line under the seat was a pain. The bolt required a torque that was very near its maximum. I ended up replacing the bolt twice before I got it just right. ...picky little bugger

Just a quick word of advise for you guys cleaning your suction screens, esp. on the new B series.when pulling the sreen assy out of the trans case you are almost guaranteed
to lose some of the debri on the screen in the line. You're going to find alot of rtv and a small amount of metal shavings stuck to the screen. The rtv is just excess from assembly (they dont use many gaskets anymore) and the small amount of metal shavings are from normal break in. Be very sure that you clean out the line after removing the screen.
At this point gravity is your friend and the debri wont travel up the line. I've seen some HST (hydrostatic transmission) failures lately that "may" have been caused by debris going through the charge pump and damaging the HST.
