hydraulic boxblade

I am in the process of adding a hydraulic cylinder to my box blade to retract the scarifier bar.I'm inbetween ideals to hook it up directly to the bar or should I install a solid stop or cam over.My main concern if hooked up directly it may put too much strain on cylinder,bleed back,or wreck my control valve.
This box blade is over 1200 lbs and will be pulled by a 4x4 75 hp tractor.I think this could put alot of strain on the cylinder.I think I have a ideal to incorporate a solid stop so the scarifier bar will not put pressure on cylinder in the down position.Any comments would be appreciated.

Rex, why not go look at some construction loaders with blades , as most of these I've seen have this feature. I do not remember any that used a positive stop.

Hi cleatus
In my area you never see a hydraulic box blade.I have never seen one at any dealership either.Looking at pictures I can't seen what is really going on.I bought this blade at a consignment sale a few weeks ago.I believe it was made with some kind of mechanical device to allow scarifier bar to turn over.It looked to have three sets of spring originally.Many parts were missing so its hard to say how it actually worked.It is a heavy old girl with no i.d. plates.I can't even figure out who made it.

Maybe get some picks, someone here may be able to help. Myabe swinging by a rental yard you can look at one to maybe clear up some of the issues on yours. Good luck /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
