Oil & Fuel Hydraulic checking - How To

/ Hydraulic checking - How To #12
Sorry but a bit confused. When you say rams, I take it youæ±*e talking about hydraulic cylinders, right? So I check fluid level when All the cylinders are extended or retracted?
My thought is that when all hydraulic cylinders are retracted is when the hydraulic reservoir level should be at its acceptable level, am I correct or is it the opposite? The last thing I want is to overfill?
Imagine, you remove your loader, park the tractor on level ground and let it sit for about 30 minutes to allow all the oil to settle, then the fluid level should be within the sightglass.
The loader is just an addition but can affect the fluid level significantly.
