I've read a bunch of these threads but have not found what I was looking for so....

Is there a reason you cannot cut the hand crank rod shorter and mount a hydraulic motor to it to turn the worm gear that is already attached to the chute?

Exactly what I did to my new Blizzard...It was cheape & better to do my own then the factory hydraulic cylinder setup...which I wasnt a fan of...

That looks SWEEEETTTT......

A couple of questions if you could be so kind....

Exactly what hydraulic motor did you use?
Where did you get it from?
What was the cost?
Did you need to put in any reducer to get it to rotate slower?

thanks,

Don

In my Hometown we have a guy with who's business it is to hit industrial auctions all over the Northeast buying all kinds of stuff...everything from nuts & bolts to Lathes, Milling Machines, Tooling, etc.. His business is really just buying & reselling industrial & commercial items. This summer he was at a Food Packaging auction and ended up with TONS of these & other hydraulic motors off conveyors etc... I picked 2 of them up for $40.00

Yep, I got a needle valve so I can adjust the speed precisely. I tweaked it this weekend and "locked it down" where I wanted it.

Neat! I ordered up the kit from my blower's manufacturer and it works well. Would have been more fun to rig something up myself. I think the motor is a great idea!

Any motor should do you fine...in an application such as this, I'd seriously shop more on price then on "specs"...figure if a person can turn the setup by hand, ANY "Low Speed/High Torque" motor should do you fine...mine is rated at 4 HP
If I were to have had bought a new motor, I would have gotten something similar to this:

OK, thanks. I'm a newb when it comes to hydraulics, but learning fast. I'll see if I can pick up a cheap motor somewhere.
