Hydraulic Chute Rotation ?

Maybe a dumb question, but...Are "motors" and "pumps" the same thing basically? In other words, could I buy something called a pump, and use it as a motor?

Some are some not. Northern tools has many and in there description will say whether it can be used as a pump, motor or both.
