You should be able to make it work. It looks almost identical to the hydraulic motor I use to raise and lower the discharge chute on my mower deck. I ended up putting flow restrictors in the hose connections to reduce the speed. Works great.

Yeah, just one comment. At $150 clameroos it's expensive. Didn't someone make one from a Ford window winder motor? I know you prefer hydraulic so maybe find one that's cheaper? Just my 2 psi worth of hydraulic pressure /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have the electric rotate. It is a fairly small (but geared) motor. The conversion also comes with various adapters to couple the worm to the motor shaft.

Using a hydraulic motor has one significant precaution, the torque available from even a small hydraulic motor is enough to rip the worm drive to shreads. You could put a pair of crossport reliefs in the circuit to limit torque, but that just increases the cost and complexity. The electric rotate just stalls.

The electric drive is for sure expensive from Kubota, but it is a bolt on and done.

Hi Junkman - one thing I remember about "orbit motors" is they are capable of pretty large torque - might need a relief valve or slip coupling or some other "fuse" in the setup. Otherwise it could tie everything in a knot at the end of travel. BTW I was cleaning out my garage last weekend and found a Char-Lynn hydraulic motor (new in a box) - looks to have 1/2" npt ports and about a 1" keyed output shaft. (looks like your picture) Yours for $50 if you want it. email rbjs@comcast.net

Can't open the link (been having that problem for a while now ...)
But the photo looks great - it looks compact and all.
Did you find a source for the gear around the chute or are you going to drive the worm gear?

I found a source for the quick disconnects (they are snap-tite 72), by the way

Junkman,

I added a hydraulic motor similar to what you are looking at to the snowblower on my bx1800. It moves the chute very quickly but you get used to feathering the joystick pretty quickly. I've attached a picture of the modification that I made.

I remember seeing your adaptation of the hydraulic motor. Did you put flow restrict-ors in the lines? What happens when it reaches the end of the travel? I am concerned with damaging the "wire gear" that Kubota uses. I read on one of the other forums that someone put stops on one that they were working on, but I don't know if stops will add enough resistance to the force of the motor without damaging the "gear"... I have a motor coming thanks to another TBN member, so I hope to start working on this project soon. I have another project that has stalled waiting for additional parts. My Kubota is going to look like a parts machine if I don't get some of these projects completed soon.. thanks for the help... Junk.....

I didn't put any stops or restrictors on. I don't seem to have a problem but I am careful when the chute is reaching the end of the travel to the right or left.

My BX15 has the electric chute rotator and deflector. 130 Hours so far. Two 20" snow storms last winter with 50 " front snow blower. Performed admirably and put the snow exactly where I wanted it. Two problems: Chute deflector leaked water through top shaft seal and would freeze. Trips back to garage for heat gun treatment fixed. Dealer replaced actuator under warranty. Second problem was rotator would run the chute past its end-of-travel and jam. Turns out there are no limit switches and the drive motor has enough poop to displace the base of the chute sideways so it jams. Dealer has no solutions except to take some of the horizontal slop out of the chute mount. That is on the list for things to be did by first snow. Seems like a hydraulic motor would make things worse. Any suggestions??
