I have a M7040 with dealer installed 3rd function. I purchased a grapple and it won't plug in. It's connectors are for skid steer and are too big. Would it be best to change the tractor connections or the connections on the grapple? I think that the tractor connectors ar 1/2 fnpt. I may purhase a lane shark later and want to be able to plug it in. Thanks.

Change the couplers on the grapple.

Your tractor already has at least one remote circuit.

Best to let the tractor dictate the size and style you use.

Never use galvanized pipe fittings for any hydraulic system as they are rated for 300 psi at best.

Most common is 1/2 pioneer Ag style quick connects. The choice is really up to you. Most attachment companies will put whatever style connector you want.

You can use what ever couplers you want. If you plan to rent or borrow implements, 1/2" ag couplers are the standard.

Some people like flat face skid steer couplers. I was going to use them for my grapple but I found them difficult to operate. I ended up with 1/2" ag couplers, Pioneer 4250.

Here is a photo I found once in hydraulic fittings. It may help you figure out what is on each.
