Hello to everyone! I've got an issue with my hydraulic controls and have played with it a bit with no success. If some of you fine gentlemen wouldn't mind helping out a mechanically challenged friend. :) This is on a YMG2000D

I can't seem to figure out what's wrong here. The main hydraulic lift control lever (shown in purple) will stop working after a few times, and then I have to reach down and pick up on the lower control arm (shown in green). If I pick the green one up all the way, then the top arm will work a few more times...and on and on.

I highlighted the spring arm in yellow just for clarification.

I hope it's something simple like lubrication. :) Although I've hosed it down with WD40

hi tony
have u cleaned the hydraulic screen?

I wish I knew why there are two levers- do you know the function of each one? I'll go along with Shimp- check your hydraulic filter. Most hydraulic problems are from dirt- either lack of flow through a filter, or a stuck or clogged valve. BTW- WD-40 is a lousy lubricant- it dies up fairly quickly. Get an old-timey pump-type oil can with a spout on it for general chores around the farm.

shimp and sc, hydraulic fluid and screen were cleaned when I bought it about 60 hours ago. It looked brand new before we cleaned and newer than new after. :) Could it be that it got dirty that fast? In a system with no leaks?

Could be stuck or clogged valve.

The system works well except that every fourth or fifth time I have to "reset" with the green lever. BTW, the green one is obviously not meant to be used as a lever, but it is part of the linkage.

I appreciate the tip on wd40.

I've looked at a few other Yanmars locally, and none of them are set up quite like mine. :(

did you actually clean the screen or see it done?

Sorry, the shop I bought it from let me clean it out there before taking it home. Yes, I saw it done. I suppose it could be clogged with something now though...particularly if it hasn't operated in years prior to me getting it.

However, the fact that it's operating correctly as long as I lift the green lever once in awhile, leads me to think its not a clog.

If you have 2 levers to control 3 pt it could be the draft control lever??

Not sure just thinking out loud

id start by checking fluid level, check screen

Shimp, I'll do that first chance I get. Thanks.

It's so hard to tell without getting in to it. Just because the fluid and filter are clean, it doesn't mean there isn't dirt moving through the system that was laying dormant. Or it could be an internal seal that's falling apart and intermittently blocking a port. I don't know much about hydraulics- they're usually very reliable, unless something gets dirty.
