Leejohn- I did consider a mechanical hookup but 1 don't have the room for the gearbox and I would need a a transmission for forward/reverse. I agree there are limits for the pump but as this thing only had about a 5hp electric motor. Also this is for work around the ranch and speed isn't an issue. I've still got some calculations on the gear ratio of the differencial etc.

Yep, looked at those also and I wish I could go that way but I still run into the problem of a vertical shaft motor, then the transmissision, then the right angle gearbox. It would work if I had the vertical room to mount everything. I've got maybe 12in. from the driveshaft to the bottom of the seat. More mechanical problems than I want to tackle. The only other method that's practical is going electric. But the cost of batteries is prohibitive.
