Hydraulic Filter Poll

I have been using the Purolator ##32010.....the engine is the 22hp Robin. I use this filter since they seem to have a decent reputation, reasonable cost and readily availabe locally. Also using their oil filter on the Robin engine with no problems. I'll be picking up both soon since 200 hours is fast approaching after some roadwork recently from the heavy rain we have had here in PA.

Hans,
Great to hear from you. I assume you are as busy as usual but any new developments on attachments.

I purchased a NAPA 1551 today. It is not the same as the Power Trac filter on my 2001 model. There are fewer holes in the filter and the gasket is 1/8" smaller in diameter than the Power Trac filter. It is also about 1/2" shorter than the PT filter. I took a couple pictures and will post them later, as I don't have time to dowload them right now.

O.K. It is raining outside so here are the pictures comparing the NAPA 1551 to the stock Power Trac hydraulic filter. NAPA on the left, Power Trac on the right. The NAPA had fewer holes in it and appears to be a bit smaller in height. Also, the gasket appears to be smaller diameter thant the Power Trac filter.

Here are pictures of the two filters with a tape measure across the diameter of the gasket.

Picture 0065 shows the Power Trac filter to be between 2-7/8ths and 2-15/16ths.

Picture 0066 shows tthe NAPA filter gasket to be between 2-3/4ths and 2-13/16ths. It is somewhere between 1/8 and 3/16ths shorter diameter than the Power Trac filter.

Does anyone think these differences are a concern? It would seem that the fewer holes would mean a restricted flow compared to the Power Trac filter. Even though it is on the low pressure side, could this cause problems? I cannont see the face of the filter fixture. I imagine it is just a flat surface.

I also use the NAPA 1551. If Hans has 2500 hrs. using it I feel fairly safe.

Considering Tazewell specifies NAPA 1551 hydraulic filter, one would assume it to suffice. Been using it on the 1430, only 300 hrs but no problems so far.

Are the 425 and 1430's hydraulic filters the same size? I'm coming up on the 300 hour filter change and don't feel like buying 3 from PT because of the $50 minimum order.

Just wanted to check to see what people are using for a hydraulic filter on the PT4XX series power tracs. I'm still using the PT hydraulic filter, but with a $50 min order, wanted to see what others are using. Post the filter make and number.

thanks
Duane

My 1445 has Gresen filters for the hydraulics. K-22001 10 micron. On a new machine, on the filter, it says to change at 50 hr, and then at 250 hr.
