Has anyone tried, to add a replace-able hydraulic filter and do away with the screen filter under the seat ?

Been discussed and photographed in some detail both on the CTOA website and on the NYCTO website. Shouldn't be hard to find with the right search words.

But what you're calling a "screen filter" is in reality a suction screen. Both words are operative. "Screen" in that it keeps out the big chunks, albeit not as good as a conventional filter. But the "suction" part cannot be ignored.

You can't simply pull that unit out and expect to directly replace it with an external. Do so, and you're inviting air into the system. You must fabricate something to replicate the depth to which the underseat unit extended; something that extends just as far into the hydraulic reservior as does the OE assembly. Otherwise don't be surprised to find yourself sucking air instead of hydraulic fluid.
