Hydraulic fittings Qs.

Vicashoe,

You bring up a very interesting point. I had assumed that pressure hydraulic hose ends had to be crimped with fairly expensive tooling, meaning that I would have to have hoses made up special if I had particular end coupling needs and lengths.

Are you saying that there is a clamp on, screw together style hose end that does not require crimp tooling to put ends on hydraulic hose? Something that is rated to at least 3000psi, or preferably more?

That would be wonderful. I would really like to have the flexibility to make up hoses myself and get them just the right length. I wouldn't really mind if they cost a little more. Custom hoses cost a bit anyway.

Or did I misinterpret what you said?

There are reusable fittings that you can make your own lines with. Be careful purchasing as there are 2 types- skive and no skive and each has their respective hose. Skive fittings and hose requires the outer rubber to be removed with skiving tool from wire core where fitting goes on the end. There are clamps for vice to prevent crushing hose for both types when screwing fitting on.
