So I changed the hydraulic fluid in my Kubota b2150 hst. But, I did not change the filter because the manual says every 300 hrs. Soooo, I drained the fluid and re-filled it, cleaned the strainer etc...I started up the tractor and warmed it up. When I started to plow my driveway I thought I smelled a bit of fluid but I didn't think anything of it. Then, it dumped all the new trans fluid out the seal of the filter. It seemed like it blew it out. When I took the filter off it looked like the inside of the filter was crushed. What did I do? Was there some sort of pressure build up? should I have loosened the filter when I drained the fluid? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Check for a clogged tank vent or the fill cap. As fluid heats, it is going to expands.

Pressure will depend on heat and space.

Those filters and housing are low pressure filter assembly.

Hmmmmmm.....other than air being ahead of the fluid forced toward the filter, sounds like maybe the filter was just ready to go. don-ohio

Yeah, I think you might be right Don. I've since looked at the manual again and for some reason I had it stuck in my head that the filter only needed to be changed every 100 but it is every 50 hrs and this one was overdue.
