I have a JD300 (industrial, cousin to the 1020 model I believe) with power steering. I have noticed that the power steering valve housing (steering column) gets warm to the touch; perhaps 125 degrees F. Is this normal and consistent with the temperature of the hydraulic fluid pumped throughout the tractor?

125 degrees is not hot at all for hydraulic fluid, many times it will run 160-180 or so.

Sometimes "normal" is considered to be 100 degrees F above ambient temperture. That's pretty hot for most of us; certainly too hot to touch.
