Hydraulic fluid use

I believe your right. I'm not sure about the 20 but my CK30hst as only one sump and one fill hole. That fluid powers everything.

Hey guys,
Even if you only have one system, if your reservoir was designed like mine, it could be leaking into the transmission, or worse yet, the engine. The fluid has to be going somewhere. Using cardboard to check for a pressure leak will reveal a leak. If you cannot find a pressure leak, and, if it's not going on the ground, which it sounds like it's not, then the fluid is somewhere in the tractor.

Where is the sump/reservoir located? If it's mounted to the top of the tranny/rear-axle it could leaking into those areas. I was trying to suggest that be looked at. There could be a crack in the housing or something else leaking into an adjoining area.

Good luck with this. I know how aggravating it can be.

Thanks,
Eddie

The reservoir is the tranny. There is no tank, pickup for the single pump is in the bottom. I had a dozer with a hydraulic drive transmission and seperate reservoir for the hydraulics used for blade. To drain our hydraulic system we pull the very bottom plug from the tranny.

Well, interesting fact: During the last three hours it does not appear to have used/leaked any fluid, still sitting at the top mark on the stick (maybe wherever it was leaking to filled up? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) These hours have been spent moving rocks with the loader about a quarter of a mile, several hundred pounds each, also pulling them out to a place where I could get them in the loader, dragging stumps around. Sort of normal work. I dunno, I check about every hour now.
