Hydraulic for PHD ?

Thanks Eric, I will take a look at that when I get back to my land ..and tractor.

I should but in my disclaimer. I have not been to a hotel in a while, I read a lot of TBN lately to learn how to put in my rear remotes. I am sure if I said something wrong one of the experts will quickly correct me.

G'day Brian i hate to disagree with people i have never met but the last thing you want to do is to run hyd over relief all the time which is what you are saying to do, that is the quickest way to destroy oil as you will heat it excessively in no time , also ther should be no reason that you cannot hook straight up to your tractor remote hyd as the operation of the ram is double acting you lift it up and down on hyds you should only need to move the lever to operate if you strike a hard spot or you need to initially break into the ground , using the tractor relief should be fine you should not have to run a seperate valve, now that i've had my grizzle :( the idea of using a high flow coupling direct back into the hyd reservoir is something we only do to post drivers as you need to get the oil away fast from the dolly ram so it hits the post nice and hard anyhow enough from me good luck with it all:)

Jon

Jon, the hydraulic is not a double acting hydraulic, it is set up as a single acting hydraulic and as far as over running the phd relief valve, that is what the Land Pride people told me to do in difficult digging circumstances, and if the pressure relief is set low, I do not think that it is as big of a heating problem, JMO. Digging with the pressure on all the time is not something that you would have to do on a regular basis I would think. And if you are running a double acting cylinder on a phd, well good luck with that, you may very well end up with a bent tube or two.

It appears some of us have different opinions, but to be safe, I plan to install the supplied Relief valve.

The only question that remians is where I can find a suitable return line source. Sounds like I need to verify if one of the outlet lines on the back of my tractor is a suitable return line.

An OUTLET as a "Return line" ?
Sure, why ever not ?
As long as it is in fact from the "other" port of a 2 way control valve, and not just an OUTLET !

{I know Marge, I don't understand how some of them have enough fingers left to type with}
