Hydraulic "hard" Line crack

/ Hydraulic "hard" Line crack #21
does for me!

the silver solder i use has 28000 psi tensile strength.

On the flip side. the hyds I'm working on ar old tractor hyds mostly in the 1500-1700 psi range. occasionally in the 2000 psi range ( working psi ).

Another thing to think about is the materials you are joining, and type of joint.

Also.. most solder is not a mechanical joint ( not good at it. so keep it from vibrating ).

lastly. see plenty using black iron pipe fittings for hyds. and you are putting a fitting designed for 150-300 psi in 3000 psi use ;)

if the material i was working with could take extra heat. I'd probably braze with brass though..

PS.. this isn't meant as advice for you to repair hyds via soldering.... just my personal observation on what I have done... so if you solder a hyd line and it burps.... this is the 'i told ya so ' part. :) not my fault. ;)
