I just bought a 6000 4WD with FEL, and want to add a graple arm to the bucket, but I don't know much about the "Quick Disconnect" fittings. My tractor has a set of remotes in the rear, so that is where I plan to connect the hoses up to operate the grapple. Can some one tell me the part numbers of the couplers and the nipples I will need to hook up the hoses? It was suggested that I put a set of Quick Disconnects up close to the bucket so I can remove the grapple when not needed. I measured from the rear remotes to the center of the bucket and will need 210 inch 1/2 inch hoses, then I will need a couple short hoses to go to the cylinder at the grapple.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Most parts stores should carry various sized hydraulic fittings that you can use. That's the first place I would check.

Go to Discount Hydraulic Hose. The are highly recommended by many TBN'ers who have used them in the past. They have down loadable pdf's of their catalogs. You can also call them (they're near Philadelphia) and a knowledgeable human will answer. They have also posted here in the past.

Great people to do business with.

But the sad thing is that when you go to Tractor Supply (or similar), no one ever knows what type of hydraulic couplings come on the Mahindras. Then to complicate matters, turns out the grapple you buy comes with an entirely different coupler. I wish there was one standard... period. :(

Very true, we have the same issues when we have to buy them locally for our implements that use remote hydraulics.

Just a thought but I would put a pair of quick disconnects at the same location where your disconnects are for the loader. That way when you remove the loader you can also disconnect the grapple at that point. I had mine made up at the local MF dealer, total cost for the hoses and fittings was $196.

I've already been to the WEB site, but I don't know enough about what I need to ask. I was thinking that someone might know the part numbers of the nipples and then I could cross reference or place an order.

The grapple doesn't come with hoses or connectors, which is OK, as they wouldn't know what or what length I would require.

I may call my dealer after while and ask him if he makes hoses, and see if I can afford them, good deal on the tractor, but he can be pricey on extra items.

Thanks for your advice.

Here is a little trick I always use. Install the grapple on your tractor. Get an old garden hose and route it the way the hydraulic hoses would go. Cut the garden hose to the lengths you will need. Voila. Now you can accurately measure the garden hose and order hydraulic hoses the exact length you will need.

Thanks to all, especially MadReferee, as I went to TSC, and they didn't have everything I needed. Hoses were too short, and not enough fittings, so I just walked out without buying anything.

I went online to Discount Hydraulic Hoses, as suggested, and talked to Ken. Since I'm a novice, Ken struggled to figure out what I needed, but patience paid off, and I place an order for everything I needed. For a lot less $ than I would have spent a TSC. TSC is OK for those criticle times when you need a single part and need it now.

Thanks again,

Les

Les,

Can u educate the rest of us on what u bought and cost? That would be helpful for others (like me) that are in the same situation that u were in. I have a 7520 and have been looking at grapples for a while. I would like to save some $ by buying the supplies and maybe have a dealer make the hoses (since I don't know how). thanks
