Bummer Phil:mad:

Clean the are well with brake cleaner of some other good degreaser, then you can even sprinkle some baby powder on it and the leak should show up hopefully.

I don't know if this will help or not.

When you took the elbow off the ram, did the threads go all the way to the top of the hole (first picture) or did it have a short recess down into the hole before the threads started like the hole on the left side of the valve photo (second photo)? It may be an ORB fitting on the cylinder and need an o-ring.

Sorry for the fuzzy picture of the valve but it's the only one I could find right now.

Phil,

If it ends up being the pipe port threads (or cracked) you'll end up replacing it, a basic fix for a good welder but you'll have to unscrew the gland and remove rod assy (as to not overheat and cook seals), the new pipe port is a cheap part but most people repack the cylinder while you are in there as the labor & seals will add up......

Just remember if you do weld on a new port, do not try to weld it with the gland on the barrel......also if you'd put your location in your profile (we all should) someone here may be able to help you locally.....

That sounds expensive, if its not something simple I will be taking it somewhere. Im located in Augusta Maine, if anyone knows of someone in this area that repairs rams Id appreciate knowing in case I need to go to that extreme.

I think I have it beat. I took it all apart again, cleaned everything and put it back together with the goop and tightened it a turn and 1/4 more and its not leaking now.

Thanks for your help
