I'm back again with another question on my F20D. I've been using it quite a lot since I got it and have noticed a leak which looks like it is coming from the PTO area. The amount of fluid leaking seems to be increasing and I would like to take care of it soon. Is there a simple seal kit to make this repair? I don't have a local source for parts, so am looking for feedback on sources I can trust in the Detroit, Michigan area or by mail order.

Still learning how to use this board. The leak appears to be from the PTO shaft. I don't see any other areas at this time.
If it is a seal, is it an easy fix and is there anything else I should be looking for when I get into it?
Thanks for the input on my last post regarding my electrical question.

You will probably have to narrow it down a little to get a definite answer. Is it leaking from the PTO shaft?

If in fact you narrow it down to the pto seal I have replaced many. When these tractors sit around seals harden and begin to weep. Sometimes they soften up with use and leaking slows or stops, most of the time the seal needs to be replaced. On the ones I have done, I first drained the hyd/tranny fluid down otherwise you will have a big leak when you pop the old seal out. Then with a sharp screwdriver or seal pick hook the old seal and pull it out. It may be more of a pry than a pull. Try to save the seal or measure with a caliper and head to Napa or something similar. You will need to know the shaft size (1 3/8 on most) and the outer dia of the seal to get a good fit. Drive the new one home after coating the shaft with grease to protect the new seal from nicks. I use a piece of pipe the same dia as the metal on the seal to gently drive it into place.
Refill your oil reservoir to the proper level.
Hope this helps

Thanks Nick,
Do I have to unbolt anything (there are 4 bolts which appear to hold on the cover to the PTO area) or can I just pop the seal out and repalce it?
