3-Point Hitch Hydraulic lifts slowly drop over night

Thanks. You gentlemen are like a God send! I'll tackle this job right after project or when the 3PH gives out all together, which ever comes first....

it's your tractor..but I'm just not sure this is something that 'needs' to be fixed.

as Ken points out. a lil drop onthe 3pt over HOURS is well.. kinda normal.

as for removing the piston. I'm not sure what that cyl body looks like but on N and other older tractors a rubber tip air gun to the pressure hole usually pops them out into a rag in your hand nicely.

While you might find something.. I'm guessing you are gonna take it apart, repalce all the orings.. pull the piston out.. see a pretty clean bore, and an oily oring on t he piston.. and no real smoking gun... new parts, all back together, and get 0 or better% improvement.

good luck... and if nothing else.. it's a good skill to pick up for when it really needs to be rebuilt next time.

Ditto on that as much as I think it is not real major job. On mine I had no choice. I could not even pick up the implement and take my tractor to the barn, dead in the water. I had to use pry bar, cheater bar and a good dose of cussing just to get my my loaded and heavy carry all off before getting tractor to the barn. The parts are cheap relatively. If it were me, I'd buy the seals just to have it on hand and work the tractor "as is" till it becomes an operational issue.

To the OP. your hyd system is open center and you have a constant flow of at least 8 gallons a minutes if it is used or not. You leak rate might be a few oz and the pump more than amply make up while engine running.

Gentlemen, again thanks.
Its a rainy day so project on hold. On another note I need a little weight in the front can I fill front tires with water, until I find some weights somewhere? I've heard of filling the back tires. Just wondering...

No reason you can't fill 'em with water but you if you live where the temps get to freezing and below, they'll freeze up on you. You can use staight windshield waher fluid that's good to -20F if that' fits your enviroment or use antifreeze (ethylene glycol or propylene glycol) or CaCl (calcium chloride)

and if you have a front bumper.. you can hang some weights on it.

JC.. ditto on the cheap parts. the 00/01 series tractors I play with, the gasket and oring kit for the top cover is a whopping 12$ :)
