Hydraulic Oil (CK2610)

At my 50 hour filter change I tried regular filter wrenches and big channel lock pliers with no luck. Ended up getting a chain wrench and a cheater, then it came right off.:)

I have had good luck tightening and removing my big hydraulic filter witih an ordinary but apparently a bit larger oil filter steel band type wrench. I always end up super tightening that big hydraulic because on both kioti's (ck20 and ck 2015) that bigblack hydro filter bleeds hydro oil. I have used that steel band filter for seven years now and despite my need to tighten the can I have always been successful removing or tightening with that particular wrench.

I too tighten the big black filter as tight as I can get it as I think being under high pressure it's be more likely to leak and/or blow out the gasket. I've not had any leaks. I also added red dye to the fluid both to make it show up on the dipstick and to make leaks more apparent.

Hydraulic filter is only under vacuum it is on the suction side of the pump. It filters the oil coming from the transmission before it gets to the pump.

I've always just hand tightened. Never a leak. And I use a strap wrench to remove it. I also use TSC universal tractor fluid, but mine is not HST.

I was able to get the hdyro filter off with just a band wrench, normal filter wrench. It was a little tight, but put a little butt behind it and spun off.

I just changed the filter and added enough oil to fill it back up. I'm going to do a filter and oil change completely on the next service at 150 hours.

I only got that one because of the surfing reference.

Watched it the other day as background noise and heard that at the end and had to post it...

Hey guys I am a newly owner of a CK2610HST also. Just wondering if I could run Mobil oils as I get them free from work? I would like to change to Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 0w40 for the engine and wondering for hydraulic oil if one can use Univis 22 or HVI 13? I live in Alberta Canada where we get cold winters so I am thinking that thicker oils are not good. We run these oils in our rig year around and we do oil samples and we get well over 3000hrs before an oil change.

We use Mobil Serv at work also and I do all the oil sampling. Send your Mobil rep an email detailing your questions about compatibility of the oils and see what they say.
