Hydraulic Oil Level Visibility

Any ideas on improving the visibility of the hydraulic oil level for the DK series? The clear oil and shiny dip stick makes reading the oil level difficult.

I did clean, then heat the tip of the dipstick and applied a coat of black spray paint so that the paint did burn/cook on the dipstick. So far so good

Know what you mean. Took me a couple of times to get used to it but I just make sure I have a good light source so I can see the reflection on the flat part of the stick/blade. Get one of those LED lights that clip onto the front of a hat....that might help?!:thumbsup:

Same deal with Kubota fluid, UDT and SUDT. It's basically clear. I took my dipstick and drilled a hole at the high mark and the low mark. The oil will bridge the small hole when full, very easy to see.

After the first change the holes were moot anyway. I refill with Chevron Synthetic fluid and it's already dyed red.

You could, with a little trouble, remove the rear cover and bore it for a clear level window. They are available from most machinery supply outfits like MSC in various diameters.
