Hydraulic oil specs

Went to Tractor Supply today for a little shopping. My 3038H book specifies "API GL4 ISO VG 46/68" for Hydro oil. However when I picked up a bucket of the Traveller "ISO 46" fluid it said upon other things "NOT recommended for wet brakes"??? Did'nt get any yet, but am confused by the book reference to ISO 46, but not recommended for wet brakes. What gives?

You want universal-tractor-trans-hydraulic-fluid not "OIL". Both of these should meet your specs.

OK, forget my loose reference to "OIL". My point was the owners manual calls for ISO 46, but the label on the bucket of fluid (ISO 46) states not recommended for wet brakes. My question was do you really use an ISO 46 type fluid? And the manual does have a few errors/omissions so this might be another one.

iso type hyd oils are for dedicated hyds systems.. not common sumps. also fine for bottle jacks and some self contained power steering systems
