I just had a thought and don't have my owners manual handy so thought I'd ask you. Is there anyway I could slow the speed of the hydraulics and increase the power??? I don't seem to have power to lift a full bucket of dirt from the pile without first backing up. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I also seem to have the same problem with my 47 BH. But when I use the FEL or BH without a load the controls are really fast.

You can slow things down by just slowing the engine down. As long as your hydraulic pump isn't all worn out, running the engine slower won't affect the lift capacity, just the speed. As for the inability to lift the bucket through a pile of dirt, neither can my 990 w/ 430 loader. I often wish for more loader power, but on the other hand having it would probably result in my breaking something. Seems that's just the way it is with many, if not most, CUT's.

This is on a brand new JD 4210 with 420FEL and 47BH. Just seems like my mid 80's 655 had more power lifting the bucket. Maybe I just have to get use to it.

The only wasy to increase the lifting the lifting capacity is to increase the bores of the lift cylinders (in other words buy new cylinders) or increase the hydraulic system pressure, say from 2000 PSI to 2500 PSI.
The first option would be WAY expensive (figure a minimum of $750, but probably much more) and WAY dangerous since the rest of the loader structure is not designed for the increased payload the bigger cylinders would allow you to lift. The second option, increasing the system pressure, depends on what pressure you're running now. You could have a defective pump, pressure relief valve, etc. that's now allowing you to reach the correct pressure.
There was a "running line" change to the 4210's hydraulics at some point in the model year so that is ended up with the same hydraulics as the 4310/4410. I wonder if yours has the change or not. My 4310 w/ 430 loader & 73" bucket has no trouble picking up heaping bucket loads of anything including clay, crushed limestone, broken concrete, wet topsoil, sand, etc. My hydraulics are running at 2750 PSI, stock(for now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ).

Bull....
I've got the same setup as you & after a year I'm still confused as to whether I've got a problem as well. Same problem as you with the FEL & Hoe. I find that if I slow the RPM's I do not have the power I should therfore I have to keep the RPM's up. Keep me filled in on any of your findings & I'll do the same.
Thanks
Eric

Thanks for all the replys. I do beleive its the relief valve. The BH will not move the tractor backwards or pick up the rear of the CUT. I tried to push a 1 inch tree out of the way and it just stopped the BH. It did dig it up.

As for the FEL it has plenty of power to lift a full load but I can't go into the pile and curl and lift. It will curl but than have to back out and than lift. Our little JD 655 13 horse could do it no problem.

I wasn't sure until I read your last post - You've got something wrong. I've got the 48 bh - I don't know how much more power, if any, mine has - but it will without doubt and without hesitation lift and easily move the tractor. The FEL also has no trouble lifting full buckets of anything, including the back-end of a F150 as I pushed it up a trailer. I'd get the system checked out when you bring it in for service.

Yup, somethings way wrong. My 47 has plenty of power!

Mike....
How can you tell/How do you know that your 47 has lots of power ?? Curious, sometimes mine seems good & other times it doesn't.

Just got the tractor back from the dealer and they said everything was in spec. When they came to look at it they also thought that something was wrong. Hope they know what they were doing. When I stopped by to check in he had his book out reading up and even said he learned some new about the hydraulic valve. Will have to take it out on Sunday and play around ( I mean work ) it.
