Hydraulic Pressure Relief Valve Question

What is the OP trying to accomplish?

OP said this.

I would like to put in a device that I could set to a specific pressure that would shut off the motor, or bypass the hydraulic lines at a specific, preset pressure.

It seems like he wants to stop and reverse the ram when the part is formed or bent using some kind of pressure regulation.

My point was that once the part was formed or bent, the ram would retract automatically, no matter the pressure.

There are pressure switches available, but if the part is already shaped, why continue to full pressure.

A log splitter valve, in retract mode, can shift the lever to neutral when a certain pressure is met .The kick off is adjustable.

I had not read a part was being made, my bad sorry.

The OP also said,

I would like repeatable pressing within small limits.

I understood this to be for pressing parts or bending, but it could be for pushing something with a set force

Forming presses could use pressure to form parts. An example would be. We used to make door panels and the rear shelfs for cars. We used wood fiber/fiberglass. For the rear shelf we would run the press at 400 ton. For the door panel we would run the press at 600 ton. Lot of different ways to control a press. Until you know what he's trying to accomplish. Its a question that you can only speculate about. My question would be, Why would you have a press built before you knew what you wanted?
