My tc 45 hydraulics are gradually getting weaker.is it the pump or something else? I replaced the filter and it did not help.

When you say it is getting weaker, how are you coming to that conclusion?? Does it just "seem" weaker? Or are you actually putting a pressure gauge on the circuit??

If you are using a gauge, what are you getting? and what is the spec??

If you are not using a gauge, use one.

The hyd power you refer to is determined by the pressure built up by the pump and whatever is causing the resistance, be it a cyl or hyd motor.

If you take a pump capable of 3000 psi, and a cyl capable of 3000 psi then a cyl with a 2 in bore and a 1 in shaft can push straight on and will have a push force of 9,425 lbs.

Weaker means that the pressure is not being developed by the pump or cyl or motor due to leakage.

So, yes, your perceived loss can be real based on what you observed before.

If you used a hyd gage, you can use it to monitor and trouble shoot the hyd system, and if you had done this at the git go, then you would have a baseline for reference.

Problem could be pump, valve spools and relief valve, cyl, hyd motor, etc.

It might be as simple as the relief valve needs adjusting.

There are test for each of these hyd components.

I haave abouty 2000 hours of stump grinding on the tractor. the transmision get hot enough to melt the soles off my shoes. I wondered if maybe the pressure relief spring could have weakened. with a 1000 lb. stump grinder on the back I can no longer pick up the front end with my frontend loader.

If it got that hot, it sounds like everything is toast. And big $$$ to repair. But you still need to get a gauge to trouble shoot.

Yes sir, a relief valve working all the time will surely get things quite warm.

It would not be to difficult to add a tee to the return line and insert a temp probe to monitor the fluid.

You might even be able to aim a thermal gun at parts of the tractor and determine the source of the heat.

If you installed a hyd gage, you can see when pressure is being developed.
