I installed a Cross 3 spool hydraulic valve on my Yanmar to replace the joystick controller. I have added a bucket grapple with a hydraulic ram. The Cross valve will not do any thing. When moving any valve the motor bogs down and nothing happens. Do I need to bleed the hoses and relieve the pressure. I have it plumbed in and out according to the port id's on the casting. All valves are plumbed to the proper cylinders. What am I doing wrong?

Did you use open center valves?

In open center hyd systems, the pup flow through all valves to tank.

A hyd valve diverter the flow to where it is needed.

Did you add the valve in series.

Did you use the PB from one valve to IN port on next valve.

Are all tank lines going to tank?

If the pump bogs down and you are not doing hyd work, then there is a blockage somewhere.

Are you sure about the hose routing and type of valve.

You need a hyd gauge .

Did you use PB adapter?

I had the input and output lines reversed. This is thr first time I have been involved with hydraulics and I guess it showed this time. Thanks. Now I can get back to brush removal with the bucket grapple, sure is a lot easier than manual labor.
