On my KM554 with Koyker 195, the loader valve stays on the tractor when the loader is removed. I am assuming that I am therefore protected from this problem.
I would think the engine load would be noticeable if you were running all of the fluid through a 2500 psi relief valve. That said it would be cool to have a hydraulic pressure gauge on the dash plumbed to the outlet of the pump. With a little calibration I could use the loader as a scale!.
