Hello, I am new on this forum, my questions might be already answered. I have a JD 4300, sync reverse, which has a leak coming from the hydraulic pump. Well, the unit on the right side of the engine under the electric starter looks like a pump to me. I checked the hoses, everything seems fine; the wet area is starting between the pump and the engine. Apparently, the leak happens when I use the tractor, or when I leave the FEL raised several inches. If I leave the FEL slightly raised, it would go down overnight; that is probably normal. Otherwise the tractor works fine. The leak is small, a teaspoon or two after each use. Before I go to the service, I have a couple of questions: The tractor was serviced recently, just before I bought it. Could it be a normal overflow due to too much oil? Is there anything I could do myself before I spend big money on the service. I am used to a wrench but rebuilding a pump is probably too much for me. It seems quite hard to remove the unit. Any advice?
