On my Branson 3510i, after I had my loader off for the 50 hour tune-up, my hydraulic system went wacky. When I start my tractor the pump really whines. The dealer says it sounds like it is cavitating. I agree but can't seem to fix it. After it warms up is works better, but when I first start it you can hardly turn the steering wheel and the loader and 3 point are very sluggish. Any ideas?

I need to get it fixed as I have to sell the tractor. I lost my job 3 months ago and haven't found another yet. Not sure how much to ask. I paid 16,700 for the tractor, 500 for the Landpride 5' box blade and 1000? for the 5' Landpride rotary cutter.

Thanks!

The first thing that I would check are the quick connectors. Sometimes there will be one that appears to be connected properly and will not be. It will be limiting the flow.

Brian, what hydraulic filter was installed? Was it a kukje, or some other brand?

What kind of fluid was used to replace your oem fluid?

If it is cavitation then there has to be a line lose in between the pick-up and the pump inlet. Does the 3510i have a separate pump for the steering? If so then disconnecting the loader will not affect the steering.

Does this pump have an internal relief valve? If the relief valve is engaged it recirculates the fluid in the pump (may get some flow out) and sounds similar to cavitation. Is there an RV elsewhere in the system?

I used a Branson Hydraulic filter and NAPA Tractor hydraulic fluid.

Our 3510 came with a backhoe that was installed for the first two years. Immediately after removing it the hydraulic system fell flat. Lots of cav noise, no/sluggish movement, etc. I checked fittings, changed filters, tightened joints on the suction side, etc. No joy. Sent it to the shop. Tech said the second he jumped out the filter with a bypass hose, all was well with the world. Pulled the filter base and found it was plugged with trash. I speculate two years of junk that had collected in the dead leg used to reconnect the 3pt when the hoe came off. He cleaned the filter base and reinstalled and life has been great since.

I do find I need to change hydraulic filters more often than recomended. At about 30 hours things will begin to 'jump'. A filter change and everything clears up. I use WIX filters for both hydraulic and engine as the nearest Branson Dealer is 45 miles away in the wrong direction.

Just a thought? Do you have a pre-screen in the sump where the replaceable filter gets its supply from? Was your pre- screen in the sump cleaned and replaced properly? I found little debris in my pre screen and none on the metal assemly itself. fjb2c

Thanks for the reminder - need to clean the suction screen next time. Haven't done it 100 hours or so - since before our 'plug-up'. May be part of the reason the filter seems to plug up so quickly.

It was pretty ratty at the first 50 (lots of metal shavings) but was pretty clean after that so I haven't been checking it.

If you look in your manual partas brake down for the pump itself, is there a small circulal screen between the actual pump/ supply tube mating surface?
