Kioti CK 30 (2008, gear drive, 415 hours)
Hi folks:

This is on a 2008 Kioti CK30 with the KL 130 loader. It is routinely stored in a shed with one side open to the elements.

One of the four quick attach fittings (the white one) is leaking. Hydraulic oil bubbles up in the gap at the top of the slip collar that locks the upper fitting onto the lower one.

1) I have removed the pressure by detaching the relative hoses.
2) Detached the quick attach fitting.
3) Wiped it clean.
4) Reattached the quick fitting.
5) Reattached the hoses.

......and it still leaks.

Do these fittings go bad over time? It is the fitting to the far right in the picture. You can barely see a ribbon of oil above the slip collar.

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

regards,

There is an o-ring and backup ring on the female side of these couplers. The o-ring could be bad and therefore causing the slow leak you're experiencing. Might be worth a look.

Thank you. I don't see an o ring on the exploded parts diagram in the manual. I am assuming it is between the hose fitting and the quick attach fitting. Before I take that off I'd like to have a replacement ready to go. Where can I buy that o ring?

Here is a picture of a female quick disconnect. The o-ring is the black ring inside the quick disconnect. The white ring is the back up ring but I don't think you need to mess with that unless it looks obviously damage.

You can pull the o-ring out with a pick or something similar, take it to an auto parts store or hydraulic shop so they can measure it and get the right one for you. Just a couple cents for a single one, may as well get some more and keep it stock.

Thank you, friend. I'll do this today. I hope all is well in sunny Portugal!

Oh yes, very sunny indeed. Clear skies and crazy hot for this time of the year. Around 75 F in my area and not a single breeze.

These fittings are a source of concern for me. I try to clean them and the protective covers scrupulously. I'll use brake cleaner or Kerosene with mineral oil (homemade WD40) in a squirt bottle. I do this whenever I have to handle them. There are two reasons: (1) I don't like the idea of adding dirt and grit to the oil and (2) There are seals in those fittings that can be destroyed by grit.
