On my high flow skid steer I have the large 1" quick connects. Yesterday I removed one of the to find that a reducing bushing was used to connect the QC to tractor on both the flow and return circuits. The port coming from tractor is 1" ID and the QC itself is 1" ID but to connect the two a 1/2" ID bushing was used.. Wouldnt this cut down severly on the flow rate and also cause temp increase? I believe the QCs have never been removed and are factory but I may be wrong..This is for a high flow drum mulcher. Thanks! Bryant

Thinking about plumbing without quick connects. will be a ***** everytime i want to use bucket or grapple but I need all the flow i can get... any thoughts from the pros?

What size hose or tubing is feeding these quick disconnects on your skid loader? Is this the first time you have run this mulcher head?

I suspect the lines are around 3/4" OD so would have around 9/16 ID.

I have used mulcher quite a bit but always thought the high hydraulic temp was from high flow 45 GPM. I had a leak i was tending to and found what I think to be and issue with fitting sizing... The steel lines leading to qc's are 1 1/4 OD

Have you contacted Terex for their Input?

Yes, no success

I can see no harm in removing the restrictions; it may be worth measuring fluid temps before and after. I notice that my tractor has all kinds of restrictions, but it's certainly a "low flow" system, and operated at such low RPM that most of the time the flow is negligible.

the nipple that i believe to be restricting flow is #7 in diagram. Terex PT11 Forestry OEM Parts Diagram 25-A Lift Arm Tubes and Fittings

Doing a quick calculation I would estimate the pressure loss through a 1/2" diameter hole at 45 GPM to be around 80 -100 PSI. The bigger concern to me would be the oil velocity. If I calculated correctly the velocity is approx 73 feet per second which will cause turbulence and potential heat problem.

Without seeing the adapter block (item #13) that all of these connections run through allow using larger fittings or would this make the walls to thin causing them to crack?
