Seeing that (at least) the newer Frontier snow blowers are made by the RAD corp.,does it seem reasonable to think that the Blizzard line also made by RAD would connect without issue to a JD 2520 tractor.

Are you asking because you have hydraulic chute controls? Or?

Dave I have been looking around and prefer the Frontier snow blowers, and the thought entered my mind if I expanded my search to include the Blizzard models which are supposed to be the same save for the red paint got me wondering if they did have the same hydro couplers so I could just connect it to my JD 2520 without changing hoses or adding adapters.

I currently don't have necessary hrdro ports on the rear of my tractor, but have the power beyond, and thought I could add a Prince 2 spool hrdro. valve.

I have a 74" Frontier blower, this will be its fourth winter and zero problems so far. My chute control is manual. I think the chute rotate function would be the most useful to have controls for rather than turning the hand crank. Unless you have lots of turns and obstacles to blow around that make you change directions, the hand crank isn't a problem to use really. I just leave the chute deflector all the way open.

I plan my snow blowing according to the wind direction, which for me, is usually what determines which way the chute is turned.

I am pretty sure the hydraulic quick connects will be the same with about any brand in the same general size category. I think either brand will be the same as far as set-up and hoses go. Can't help you with the power beyond and valve question. If you get a blower and have specific questions about a valve need, it will be better to open a new thread in the Hydraulics section.

Hey Smalltown, I been looking for you to ask a question about your High pressure line leak a while back and to ask how you resolved it with the dealer. I have a 2720 that has blown the same line in the same bend under the seat. First time was as a new machine with just a few hours on it , and now again in the same spot. The CUT now has 340 hours, and I am having a **** of a time with my dealer. The last time I was told that JD had re called that line in the 2520 and the 2720. Now I am getting the run around again. Can you please fill me in on what you had done? Thanks in advance. You may want to look up my post on owning /operating and reply there or send me a reply at ecd_45@hotmail dot com .

Wooden I can't exactly recall how many days I had the tractor, but it was very few maybe a week, when I noticed what I initially thought was smoke, and quickly realized the tractor was spraying hydraulic fluid. Not sure if this is the same hydro line as your issue, but mine line broke adjacent to the pump. I have attached a photo before the repair, with an arrow pointing to the leak point. I paid for a haul to the dealer. It was repaired, and ready for me to pick up in a few days. I was not charged anything so I thought it must have been covered under warranty. Other than the fuel cap not being centered in the hood opening I have no other issues. Getting ready to do my 200 hour service.

Dave thanks for the reply. For what I have been reading the Frontier blowers appear the be bullet proof.

They seem easy to maintain. I like the lift off cover on the pto attachment, that makes it easy to grease the u-joint. The auger drive chain is exposed enough it's easy to spray with some chain lube. The space between the drive chain and the side of the housing tends to pack with snow pretty tight. I clear most of that with a broomstick and the rest melts off in the garage.

I don't know if that would eventually become a problem if the blower is stored in an unheated shed or outside. For cold storage, I would take some time after each use to get that and any other packed snow cleared out.

Smalltown. I looked at Your photo a few days ago , and yes it is the same line. Mine broke on the banjo fitting under the seat. Now this is the second time that this has happened. Mind you, The dealer told me that JD had recalled that "pipe" as it is known, but now they seem to want to sing a different song. I sent them a video of the leak with the hydraulics activated so they can see that it is again in the same spot. They made me pay shipping to get it here , but said JD covered it as a re call. I live in the Virgin Islands so it was not a cheep fix, but I do the work my self , so no cost there. Now I wait till Monday for the parts manager to get back from Vacation before I find out where this is going. I am thinking I'll have to Tig weld it rather than pay $448.00+ and this will not be the end of this issue. I will youTube this Video for all to see who my dealer is , and how they handle it. This is clearly a manufacturing problem. Will keep you posted
