... I have a DK35 - owned it about a year and have put just 25 hours on it (I know, I want to use it more but... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

The last time I hooked up the bush hog, I noticed that when I lower its position it shudders down rather than going down smoothly.

One person suggested that maybe I needed to add hyd fluid, but according to the dipstick, it is fine.

I assume I should try to fix this - it can't be good. Any ideas?

Do you have the valve that controls the drop speed opened up?

I agree with Chris, adjust the 3pt. drop speed control which is probably under the front of the seat just above the platform. All closed, clock-wise when seated and looking down, keeps the 3pt from dropping, to the other end of the 3pt dropping quickly. John

I have that valve almost wide open. Isn't that what I should have?

Nope, there's your problem. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif The lighter the implement, the more you open it, and the heavier the implement the more you close it, and a brush hog is a lot of weight back there.

And Billy, after not hearing from you for nearly 6 months, I thought you'd been so busy you'd have lots of hours on that tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Bird said it well. Just close it down to where it easily, but not too quickly drops, move it a few times, and it should get better. John

Well, now I feel kinda stupid /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Of course that is the problem.

Well, I've been pretty busy but the main reason I don't use my tractor more is that there is only so much mowing I'm permitted to do because of wildlife considerations /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But I am getting a pond built (well, actually I'm expanding my 1/2 acre or so pond to 2 acres or so). They are about 2/3s done with it and I'm hoping they finish it up before we get more real rain here /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That looks like a pretty serious project. A 2 acre pond ought to make a good fishing hole. Hope you have fun with it.

Wow that's going to be HOT, or cool with water! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
glad you got your problem straightened out. Easy to forget those little things exist when you don't get a chance to use them! John
